check out Canon, Sony alpha and Nikon. Jessops were recently doing offers which included camera bag and lens and other bits and pieces. I've got a D80 and my husband has a Sony Alpha. He thinks mine in better but they're pretty similar, both 10.2 mpx. The build quality is better on the Nikon but you pay about double for that. There is at least one camera from each of these makes that comes in at £300 - £400 and is around 10.2 mpx but there are lots of other features as well to consider. Look on the web, there are sites that compare cameras in various price ranges, then I would suggest you go visit Jessops or your local retailer and try them out.
