It depends what your experience is in and if you have any degrees or credentials in journalism (I hate to say that by attending an Ivy League college doors have opened for me). Often you'll need to resort to non-paid work, to build up any resemblance of a client base/contacts. It's difficult as a newbie, especially if you lack credentials, but not impossible. The internet has revolutionized ways we access news and therefore more opportunities are available to have your articles published. Regards, Ania.
