Question CoCreate

Hi,
I am new here, & this is my 1st post. Hello everyone.
After reading through this thread there seems to be questions answered so here goes!
I am a design & development engineer working for a manufacturing company in west Yorkshire. The software I use is CoCreate one space. I have the option to import/Export AutoCAD, solid works, proE etc.
My day to day duties include new design to customer specs, Existing design improvement, Cnc programming (Trumpf Laser & BrakePress), Manufacture Specs, Boms etc
Although I am in a permanent position I have being thinking about casual freelance work from home in my chosen sector, i.e. light gauge sheet metal.
Don't know where really to start & is there a call for someone with my skills, i.e. 2d drafting, 3d modelling, Product Animation Inc clash analysis. I have a mobile license for home use.

I have quickly thrown a website together & am in the process of filling it with relevant data (ClickHere).
Any advise would be welcomed,
Cheers,
Dean,j

Email me some examples of your work if you like.

Kind regards

Default Solidworks....hmmmm

"The CAD industry is all moving towards Solidworks" somewhat optimistic statement

Certain engineering fields are leaning towards Solid Works and solid edge software. But the big players are migrating to Catia v5, as are the suppliers to those companies.

Have been freelance now for 20 years and have used most of the 3D systems around now. Of all the enquiries we get around 5% is for solidworks and the other low end modelers, the rest is for Catia v4 and v5 and Pro-E wildfire. Alos big demand for Microstation 3D and 2D with rates touching £35 an hour for 2D work.

Its best to get as many systems under your belt as possible, but as important is the design experience you can give, which of course takes time.

As a freelancer I have not really bothered with AutoCad, rates far too low..unless its in Oil and Gas where its touching £45 an hour, but only if you have extensive O&G experience

You might want to consider NEiFusion Finite Element Analysis & Digital Prototyping Engineering Software | NEI

Default Cad/cam

Hi, I have been using various CAD packages for about 5 years now. Currently studing HNC level CAD to supplement this. I have experience in an industry which no longer interests me.
Its a supply and demand thing. Now that the work all went to China, there is an abundance of experience here who work for the scraps that was left behind.

I have used
AutoCAD from 2000 to 2007 updates.
CAM350
CAMtasic
EdgeCAM and Part modeler
and a few others from PCB manufacturing industry.

I am looking to gain experience in any industry with a greater demand for good workers!
