Default Designers using CAD

As this is a new sector specific to CAD, do we have any designers on here who uses such a tool? If so please step forward with years of experience, CAD package and industries served.

Thanks

Kay

I've been involved with CAD & 3D modelling/animation since 1989......showing my age now. hehe
SW:
Lightwave 3D mainly, but also ProE, some Solidworks, Blender, AutoCad......plus a plethora of 'support' software for those niche tasks, like creating ivy or generating topological structures........

The end product is generally a render, so I guess I should post an example:

Hey Glebe,

Pretty impressive. Out of all the rendering programs, which one is easiest to learn? I want to get into rendering as my past experience has always been strictly technical plans and engineering drawings.

Blender is free but looks difficult. 3D Studio Max looks extremely complicated. Maxwell Render looks a little easier.

I am good at using AutoCAD, Solidworks, AllyCAD (aka ChoiceCAD), Sketchup. Rendering these are not photorealistic. Please advise. Self teach or to go on a course?

I'd say stick with the modeling software that you know for now, Maxwell is a great render-engine and has a solid plugin for Solidworks, and Sketchup too for that matter.

Most of my work is animations, so I use Lightwave because I need a robust pipeline for my renderfarm.........free unlimited render nodes is a main selling feature for me.

Blender, well yes you need to 'rewire your brain' for its workflow/interface....lol.....but once you do it's a great tool and you can get some high-quality renders if you use the free add-on render-engines [Yafray, Indigo, kerkythea are all good].

Default CAD design

Hi,

We are an established design company. Our CAD work is very extensive based on 2D and 3D using SolidWorks. The CAD industry is all moving towards Solidworks so if you can master this, you will be on high demand.

Rates are given according to the project but to give you an indication based on your level, you should be looking at £25 to £35 an hour.

Email me some examples of your work if you like.

Kind regards

Kay

Which CAD is that then?
You'll need to be more specific if you want a useful answer.

Thumbs up Walker Tooling Solutions

Hi,
Just found this web-site.
I have 9 years experience with tooling design of fixtures and gauges for the aerospace industry. I am highly trained in Cadds5 and also use Autocad. Any other aerospace engineers here?
