Default New site for buyers and providers of content

After researching the market of eLance type sites where freelancers bid on projects, I decided to launch a site, Content Central, that is dedicated to freelance copywriting projects.

Why? Well, the majority of these sites have code developers as their main business focus and the copywriting section always appears to be out of context, both from a freelancer and buyer perspective.

I'd be interested in any feedback, either as a provider or buyer.

Thank you for your positive comments. Getting new buyers on board is the real challenge however, that will be down to me & working some SEO magic on the site.

I think it's a good idea too - I agree that most sites are heavily weighted towards IT / design.

I will sign up now.

Thank you for you input Claire. I've plenty of plans for the site and I would love to get more ideas from freelancers to help me shape what kind of site they would like to see.

I agree with all comments above - a great idea.

The only problem I've had with such sites in the past is that the bidding system doesn't often seem to work in favour of the writers / content creators - there's always someone who's prepared to go far lower than you; quite possibly due to circumstances - desperate for work, perhaps, or actually feeling quite flush and happy to produce for very little.

And in this case I think that UK writers will find themselves unable to compete with bids by North American members due to the current value of the pound against the dollar. But of course, it's all perfectly fair, and another resource for everyone. So yes - best of luck!

A well made point. I have a problem with the term 'bid' or 'bidding' and will be changing all references to 'quote' or 'quotation'. I'd also like to help people understand that you get what you pay for and that the cheapest quote is not always necessary the best route. I might have my work cut here but at least I can give it a shot!

Thank you! Since launch, we have signed up 32 freelance copywriters, 2 projects have been completed (on time and to budget) and I think another project has been placed with a provider.
