What do you guys reckon? What is the boundary of ethical journalism?
Do you save the dying child or take pictures for the evening news? Does duty to the public override durt to individuals caught up in new events? |

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. From what I have read journalists likely to be caught up in the extremes of human distress tend to become dispassionate. Much depends on the personality of the journalist I suppose.
My sister who was a journalist for a San Francisco tabloid grew tired of doing stories on yet another headless body found in a skip, and moved to a teaching post (in Turkey). But still makes a good living / lifestyle writing freelance. |
