Default Where did you start?

Hi there im new to the forum
this is my first post
i have just finished a National Diploma in Photography & have a 1st Diploma in Graphics
ive taken a year out before i go to university generally because, im not ready for it due to past illness which set me back last year & other family problems
but im taking this year to spend time doing freelance work & generally experiancing the real world because i don't want to have gone to university & leave & come into the real world thinking, i hate this, because university & the real world are far different things

So i was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get started, i generally shoot sports & music but i'd like to widen that selection to stuff like wildlife & a larger range of sports.

So below this it would be great for people to post up maybe a little story about how they got started (Theres so many posts asking this sort of question just thought it would be cool to keep it in the one place maybe?) feel free to do this or leave any advice for me, im generally looking to maybe contact magazines, go to events or even get a job at a music venuse or with a promotions company.

Thanks, Adam

Adam, get out there and snap away...build a portfolio, start a site and get your name and pictures out there. Good luck

Ok, the first thing you need to understand is that having a degree in "photoin" will get you nowhere in the freelance world. It wont even get you far in a job. People want a good learner and a who is passionate about photos. I have talked with many pros who own massive companies and they say they never take on uni grads becuse they think they know it all. So forget the degree and get out and make a portfolio!!!
