Lightbulb Can you market outside the box?

We recently established a small publishing business, primarily publishing new writers, and also a voluntary organisation promoting the discovery of writing talent through competitions etc.

The significant differences between us and a mainstream publisher are:
  • None of our books have a celebrity on the cover
  • We believe 'fair trade' applies equally to authors and pay them a worthwhile rate for their hard work
  • We're in it for the quality of the writing not money for money's sake

Because of the fact the big retailers and supermarkets drive the business these days, they look for famous faces and huge discounts with a view to getting high turnover but we want someone who can help us market in more innovative ways. Probably a lot of it would be online to start with but we have some ideas for breaking into the 'real world' market by less traditional routes.

We're a very new company so it would have to be some kind of payment by results scenario to start off with. But we currently have two books published and a further dozen or so in varying states of progress towards that so if we can get that first break into the public audience, there's potential for good success.

If you're interested, we have the basics of a website at Baineth Publications or email with questions.

Look forward to hearing from you.
