Hi,
I'm just setting up a graphic design business and would like to ask, is it better to sell yourself as an individual, i.e Mike Young Graphic Designer or M.Y Graphic Design Studio? Any ideas on this subject would be great. thank you. Mike ![]() |

Hi,
I prefer M.Y Graphic Design. How will you be promoting your new business? If you need any help with this, I will glady help. I specilise in writing and implementing marketing strategies for small and medium sized businesses and also carry out ad hoc marketing services. Kind Regards, Vicky |

I think it depends a little on how you want to establish the business.
By calling it Mike Young Graphic Designer, it suggests that you are a one man outfit and that brings with it certain connotations. ie you will be cheaper than a larger organisation but will not be able to cope with larger contracts/projects that may require more than one designer. However, I would suggest that if you have any intention of expanding in the future and taking on staff, you should go with M.Y Graphic Design Studio. I would also spare a thought for your domain name (assuming you will have a website for the business). For instance, check that the domain matching your company name is available. I would also recommend having the nature of your business in your company's name to add to the transparency (as you suggested; Graphic Design or Design Studio). Good Luck |
