Default Copywriting, spit testing and conversion type checking in

Is this the right place for Internet marketers?

I am a freelance IT contractor using my Ltd company to build up a music related internet marketing business on the side.

I have a couple of years experience now and am well versed in SEO and traffic generation although I am mainly interested in copywriting, testing and tracking for high conversion rates.

I notice there are more and more SEO types popping up all over the place but very few who can offer market research, well converting copy and split testing services.

They tend to go after the 'low hanging fruit' in terms of SE rankings but with no real thought about how well those easy keywords convert - or don't.

last time I checked the person ranking at #1 in Google for the term "SEO London" (without quotes) was saying that 1 sale from 200 visitors is an acceptable conversion rate. That's a 0.5% conversion rate - would you be happy with that?

My new site conversta leads at 17-20% at the moment and I'm only starting to split test

If anyone wants to team up on some projects or help each other out with some work send me a PM - I'm looking for help with design and corporate branding and can offer copywriting, split testing and niche research with a view to targeting hungry buyers as opposed to 'easy to rank for' keywords.

Conversion rate alone doesn't really say too much about profit margins, 0.5% could be amazing... Cost per visitor and net profit per product sale need to be accounted for.

At the end of the day, the only figures that matter are the ones with a "£" sign before them.

I know there are always differences and conversion rates will vary between someone selling extremely high end and expensive products to someone selling $39 ebooks.

The point I'm making is that people are desperately focusing on traffic and SE rankings without putting that much thought into who they're targeting and how well they will convert.

While the figures with the £ before them are important for the bottom line it's the figures for visitor value, visitor cost, which keywords convert better from which search engines on what days, at what time of day etc.

Knowing this means you can use the 80/20 rule to increase the figures after the £ and not just go all out trying to get to the top of Google just for a 0.5% conversion rate.

I recently discovered that my adwords campaign converts at almost 300% more when the ads display at positions 3-6. Without that I'd be paying a lot more per click and getting a lot less ROI

I'm not having a pop at SEO people, I am one myself I have just learnt that if you focus on just traffic without much thought to who you are targeting, how to really get inside their heads and track and test what works and what doesn't you're leaving a lot of money on the table.

That's why I'm now specialising in copywriting and split testing. I'm kind of obsessed with the 80/20 principle and what makes people act - it fascinates me
