Default Got a Website? Promote it!

Just having a website isn't enough. You need to get it found.

Online directories can be a great way to do this. But be choosy! There are some who'll give you a free premium listing.

Free UK business directory - Free Index are good.

Looks like a good one to add to the collection - thanks! Promoting sites to directories certainly has to be done, if you find any other directories to submit to then make sure you let us know

Three more directories: good google pagerank on the page you get listed on for some of the categories I've tried, direct textlinks. Reciprocal link required for free listings.

Start at Web Directory by HotVsNot.Com and you'll get all three.

What are your top tips?

Nigel.

Hi George - not sure if any web sites will achieve that for you. It would be a great time saver but don't think press and TV people will be scouring internet Press Release sites to pick out good ones to cover.

Might be best to submit to the usual press release sites on the net and send the press release directly to editors of publications and programs you think would find your release relevant.

Hi george, You could try submitting it to various blogs that write about your industry if thats applicable. If its of genuine interest to people it will spread from site to site.

Default Advice for George

I've probably missed the boat on this one

So briefly:

1/Local press
2/Source Wire or Response Source(affordable price to issue)
3/Send to editors/newsdesks of websites
4/ClickPress | Global News Distribution

Default New free way to get a cool online presence....

Hi all,

A friend of mine told me about this site BT Tradespace and I went and had a look.

Apparently, it is a new project from BT where you can advertise your business for free and have a page where you can blog, podcast, put pics of your work, present what you do, etc....

Basically it is like myspace.com but dedicated to small and medium businesses and I found it quite useful for freelancers as well. I have a page on myspace but you never know if you're really visible online. In that case, it seems that BT pays for the marketing as they say they pay for SEO and drive traffic to the site!

I confirm it is free as I created a tradespace myself but haven't quite finalize it yet so will know more later...

Anyway, check it out and let me know your views.
