Alex, your tips are nice but I differ on point two that's "Make posts web friendly". I think you blog posts must be user friendly instead of web. Search engines quality contents that is written for human.

 

A agree that the posts should be user friendly - your blog will be far more popular if people are actually interested in it an read it regularly.

I would also say promote your blog on social media, but this has to be done correctly. You can't just post "published a new blog post, check it out" across as many platforms as possible. That is not effective.
