Hi there. I was booked in to work for several months as a freelance technician and due to schedule problems the company have cancelled me after two weeks. What can I do about this? Am I entitled to be paid? Appreciate any advice...
Sorry to hear about that @Jimmy - as @threelancer said, if you have a contract in place then you have some hope - even if it is just an email from them confirming that amount of work it could be possibly seen as a contract... Possibly! Were you working direct or through an agency? Also, are they regular clients or were you seeing this as a one-off bit of work? That would alter how hard you would go after them IMO...
Jimmy that's really frustrating. I can only echo what the other two have said. It's dependent upon whether you signed and contract and if you did what that contract stated.
The advice so far Jimmy is sound. You'd need to check your contract; look for non-payment clauses like the one referred to here and then consider taking legal/contractual advice. You may well be entitled to some form of payment/compensation, as this freelancer was. Tell us how you get on. My best bet: the client will do all in its power to not give you a penny!
And if you supply your own T&Cs, make sure they have a clause about cancellations written in ... So sorry to hear about this.
