Could anyone advice me on the correct etiquette when at an international event when the National Anthems are being played. Is it still okay to move around to take photographs of the sports men and women or am I supposed to stand still?

The normal behavior for spectators is to just stand quietly. If you are there to photograph the event, I don't see why you should stop making pictures. Those ceremonies would be part of what's going on. Just be quiet and nice, but continue photographing.

If you are imbued with a sense of confidence and purpose and are concentrating on the task of recording the event, then people will pick up on this and not be bothered by it. Proceed with confidence.
