hello there, I'm working freelance as a picture researcher for tv prod companies in different countries in Europe... I'm currently struggling with the daily fee I should charge as there doesn't seem to be a similar fee from one company to another and from one country to another (which in a sense makes sense). And I always have the feeling I'm often below the company's standards esp when they say "yep, perfect... that's what we usually pay for"... Does anyone have any advice on the best way to determine one's rate or any uselful webiste that would give some standards? That would be very helpful and very much appreciated. Thanks! Sophie
hello Sophie, I am in the same situation and teach sport in Europe and get paid each day. Do you have experience of paying it into a British sister bank in Europe, and how did you sort your tax situation out? I would love to exchange info and experiences of working in Europe. Thanks
There are lots of potentially helpful pieces on FreelanceUK, including: Freelancers' Questions: How to price services as a freelancer? :: Freelance UK How to price your freelance services :: Freelance UK Freelancers ask: how much should I charge? :: Freelance UK Freelancing: The magic number: Knowing what to charge. :: Freelance UK Only other thing - if there's a market for your services, you should check sector/industry reports (or websites) of what the going rate for your skills is.
interesting A friend of mine is in a similar situation, do let us know if you get this resolved! Salv
