I currently work full time but have had several approaches to do small freelance projects. I would love to take them up as I see myself going freelance full time in the future but I am unsure about the financial complexities of doing this - tax/ni, who (if anyone) should I register with etc? Also are there any other financial issues I need to consider?

I've found plenty of advice for freelance only but nothing relating to both!

    cash for creatives

I work for a creative agency that often uses freelancers.

If you go to BLM Flint Freelancer Registration you can register on our freelancers database, then there is a chance we'll use you if the right job comes up.

Nothing to stop you being both at the same time. I used to work full time and then kicked off the freelancing career by doing bits in the evenings/weekends etc.

Yeah, working a 'proper job' while freelancing is the best way to get started and think that is probably what most of us freelancers did to start off. Make sure you pay your taxes though :)

Yeah, still 'doing the day job'.

What's the day job notepad? Related to your freelancing work?

Well, its also 'freelancing' in its way, I suppose. But its not always a 'day' job.

Celtic/Jazz crossover musician. Any event. Any Occaision. Busking if there's nothing else on that day.

It pays for the bills and the beer :)
