    Hi,

I need e help to resolve small issue.

I live in Italy and work as a freelancer for Italian company, as a web administrator, managing e-mails etc. I do get paid here in € on my Italian bank account.

Next month we are moving with my family to UK, where I have my UK address and NIN and now I'm willing to start working there as self employed/sole trader still for the Italian company as freelancer.

As I still will be working with Italian company, they want to pay me in Euro with same rules as before, can I get paid to my Italian bank account in Euro while living in UK, working as a self employed? I want to keep € account as we are travelling a lot in EU and same time we will have GBP account in UK or I have to open an Euro account in UK? It will be just much less hassle to keep an € account in Italy if possible.

The invoices will be done end of each month: do I have to invoice in Euro and GBP?

The invoice will be with no VAT as I will be self employed, that's correct, isn't it?

Thank you in advance for any help .

    Aga

Hi Agawia, the expert has answered most the legal side of your situation. I just wanted to add that you will still need to register as a sole trader in the UK and any income you receive in Italy will need to be declared on your UK tax return in £, even if you received it in € in the first place. I had a similar problem in Germany and had to do a tax return in Germany AND in the UK. It got pretty complicated. Worth checking with an accountant in Italy to see whether it's a similar situation.

Oh, and if you want to transfer money from your Euro bank account into the UK, use something like Transferwise, it will save you tons of fees compared to a normal bank transfer.

    Hope that helps!

Hi, my friends. I live in Milan and work as a freelancer. When you live in the land of mozzarella, and the sun, sea, and dolce vita whisper "come with us" every second, you have to find ways to optimize time to have time to work and rest. The first thing that helps me to be productive is a system of "3×3": three goals for the year, three objectives for the month, and three weekly subtasks. With this approach, you have 3 tasks per month and 3 subtasks per week, bringing you closer to the desired results. The main thing is not to be lazy and schedule everything. In addition to freelancing, I have some other ways of earning money. It is not approved by all my relatives, but what to do if the house of pokies australia brings me a good income.
