Freelance willing to relocate in the UK

I am a free-lance editor and translator based in Italy, paying taxes in Italy, with a portfolio of Italian clients.



I am willing to relocate to the UK but am unsure if it is possible for me to go on with this kind of job and type of clients, while I wait to acquire clients in the UK?



I gather that if I cancel my VAT registration in Italy and register with HMRC I can work in the UK, then ask for a pre-settled status after a while?
