Hi,I took a photo last weekend of a crash I was passing. I submitted it to the local paper for the first time by email. Hastings Observer. They didn't get back to me but on the next edition my picture was on font page (3" x3") with someone elses name on it!

I contacted the paper and they apologised saying there had been a mix up they said they were reprinting the picture this week with my name on it to clarify the error. They didn't mention payment but I asked and they said send in an invoice for £25. I didn't know what to say so didn't argue.

Is this fair or a little stingy for a local frontpage. They said they have very little money for this kind of thing?

Any guidlines or advice much appreciated.

£25? They are having a laugh.

Threaten them with copyright infringement and see if they will up it! I woud want £100. What amount would you realistically be happy with?

Could always call them pretending to be a freelance photographer and ask what their rates are ;)
