How does distance between writer and client affect copywriting?

Distance may make the heart grow fonder, but what does it do to our work?

I'm currently living in France, but planning on moving to Thailand permanently. So far I've dipped my copywriting toe in French speaking waters only, but I'm planning on building any copywriting future I may have around the English speaking market. Wider market and all that...

    So my question is simple:
In this time of zoom, teams, etc. How important is it to meet our clients face to face? Does physical distance from the client have any negative effects on our work?

    Hi Paul,

That's a great name you have!

I'm in the Uk and, although I focus on coaching copywriters now I've retired, when working as a copywriter, I was able to produce results like this for clients in other countries: "20K in three days" (USA) "30% conversion" (Thailand) "650 sold" (USA). Those and many other winners were achieved by communicating by email alone.

I think your idea to focus on the English speaking market is an excellent one as there are far more opportunities when you write in English. I had clients in every continent on earth - except Antarctica - and they all wanted copy in English.

Good luck with your move to Thailand.
