    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had experience of, or could recommend and illustration representation agencies? I'd really like to get into a position where I can hopefully spend more time doing work than looking for it and I've heard these can be a decent source, espcially as they barter prices for you.

I'd also like to become involved in editorial illustration but similarly, haven't much of a contacts database for that. I wonder if there's a list of magazine/newspaper art directors available anywhere?

    Thanks,

    Steven

    Representation

    Hi Steven

I sent loads of work off to all the Illustration agencies I could find, and am now with Advocate Art. This is my first time with an agent, so I don't really have anything to compare them to.

I've been with them for about a year, and have had 3 paid commissions to date with Royal Bank of Scotland, Unicef and a stationary company. 3 jobs isn't alot, but I would never get those sort of clients (or money) on my own.

I still have to go out there and get clients myself, but i guess having representation puts an extra string in the proverbial bow.

    Hope that helps!
    good luck

    Matt

    continued from last post...

Im trying to get into editorial illustration too at the moment. There's a huge list of all the magazines published in the UK at Media UK: british tv, radio, newspapers and magazines; contacts, news and discussions
There's email addresses with names so it's OK, but a bit of a lucky dip as who knows what mags need what illustration etc.. worth a go, i've had a few replies back from the mails i've sent.

    cheers

    Representation

I've just agreed to be signed up to an agency KJA. don't know if anyone's heard of it. I came into contact with them because they upload images to Contact a Creative a lot. Everytime I'd upload a new image within an hour they had replaced it. Though that was annoying I thought at least they seem pro active and on the ball. Don't know if it will get me any work though time will tell. Don't reccommend Contact a Creative. There are too many people on there to compete against and I didn't get any enquiries in 18 months. It doesn't really make you feel very good as well as being a waste of money. I'm not that crap!

The AOI sell lists of editorial clients, pretty reasonable price too.
