Logo Design Costing
Hi There,
Not been on here for a while but I wonder if I can get some advice about how I should charge for a designing a logo. I have quoted a certain price per hour but I have spent far too long designing one of my recent logos because I struggled with ideas and concepts to begin with. I wonder whether it would be better to have a fixed price for designing a logo rather than charge by the hour.
Is there anyone out there who charges a fixed price and if so, how much?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks sooo much for your reply, much appreciated! Is this cost including amends for the design etc or do you have a certain cost for client amends added onto this?
I wonder, actually whether most people charge a flat fee for all work. Do they have an hourly rate and estimate how long it would take, giving the client the total price? Pretty new to all this, I think more research might be needed!

Messages count : 22Likes count : 0Registration : 5 December 2007When I quote for a job, I ask the client what they will need doing and then sit down and estimate my hours at around £12 - £18 an hour give or take a bit.
As a general rule try and always state that its a flat rate that say includes three initial ideas and three ammendments etc.

Messages count : 4Likes count : 0Registration : 22 August 2008It depends on the client. You should sus them out. Get a brief from them. If you feel they are going to be fussy. Work per hour. If you feel that you know exactly what the client wants then charge per job. And if you feel you are working too much on a job at the set price then let your client know that you will need to charge extra for your time. That usually stops them from being too fussy haha.

Don't ever under charge because you have to remember you have to pay for taxes, your insurance and health insurance!
