Mobile app; Set price for a company?

Hi there.

Relatively new to these forums and just looking for a little light on this subject.

I've been approached to design a basic iphone (and then multi-platform OS) application that will display simple items like news and so forth. I've put a little app together using jQTouch and Phone Gap but I have no idea what to charge for this.

I've created mobile websites that import the RSS feeds from their website and all the other items they wanted in there too, and it's taken me about two days to put together, I'd day about 10 hours in total? They want it listed in the app store and linked to their website too, which again, is no problem.

I'm a student and I'm pretty on the ball with my design work, however I'm not sure if this would reflect the price and also, if I would work my pricing around placing the app at a price, or just selling it as a set price for the company?

App pricing

Your post is a little confusing - have you been approached to build the app or have you already built it? I would imagine would have agreed the price with the client before you went ahead.

Anyway to answer your question, it is common to price these jobs on the time it takes to build. Allow time for admin etc, like placing the app in the AppStore and all that.

If you are a student, but well skilled in your trade as you seem to be a charge £20-£25/hour seems fair. If you keep your price reasonable you can build a business on the basis of your satisfied customers!
