Not sure if i could claim against newspaper as i went in and they offered me an amount if they printed the picture i had taken.

I then emailed them telling them i did not want them using the image at all and i didn't give my permission anymore.

But they went ahead and used the image on the front page of the publication.

Is there anything i can do?

  3. Absolutely. This has happend to to me three times now, a slightly difference scenario but I would suggest the same tact. An online marketer SEO'd a photography domain before putting the domain up for sale. He was just below me on page one of Google. When I clicked on the site there were my images. I got his personal details from whois (idiot) and sent him an invoice for £1000 (£250 per image). The invoice was ignored so I sent him a claim via the small claims court. He ignored this (very stupid) and he didn't turn up to cour (even more stupid). I won and was awarded the full £1000. He ignored the order so now he cannot obtain credit and I have an attachment of his earnings (£50) a month.

Sending invoices etc address to the business will just be ignored in which case I would find out the personal details for one of the owners of the newspaper and address an invoice to that person advising if it is not paid you will seek damages via the small claims court which will be recorded against that persons credit file...works every time.

    Ouch

i think you need to find a distro that let's you retain copyright so you can withdraw whenever you want, i've been looking around for something like that and came across demotix.
still checking it out but seems like a guy in your position would have his pics removed unless they already went to print.

need to look into a bit more thought, thats what is seems like to me, I just want my name credited in papers! I would love that to happen.

Great advice Richard and a great warning to anyone who uses material without thought of royalties.
