Potential client asking for Passport Number as part of Confidentiality Agreement?

    Hi

Had a quick search and couldn't see this asked elsewhere but apologies if it has been answered before.

My girlfriend is relatively new to freelance copywriting and has recently been approached by a potential client with regards to some work. The work is for a forthcoming online publication but he says he cannot disclose any further information until she has signed a Confidentiality Agreement (CA). He is asking for her Passport number or other unique identifier such as National Insurance number (we're based in the UK) to draw up the CA which will be signed at a meeting in a public place.

He refuses to meet her until she has sent him all her information, and she can find no information online about him or his business so she is a little concerned that something is not quite right. Does this sound normal?

I know this is an old thread, but thank you for sharing this helpful information. Even after so many years, it remains effective! I advise you not to share your personal information with strangers. If a person is interested in you, he will be the first to discount, he has nothing to fear. Even if he urges you to share your information, it's cheating. I was in a similar situation where I was cheated, and they took all the money off my bank card. Then I had to restore the data somehow, a well-known company helped me, you can read fake id reviews. So be extremely careful!
