Potential Project...but what to charge?

Discussion in 'Illustrator Forum' started by honeyandthemoondesign, May 18, 2009.

  1. Hi guys

I've recently been asked to come up with a couple of concepts for some backgrounds for an online, interactive game. In total there are, right now, going to be around 20 should I secure the contract, but they would like to change the theme of the game every 2 weeks or so to add new chapters and such to keep people interested.

As such I've been asked how much I would like to charge for this. As I have never done any kind of 'bulk' production of items, I was looking for some advice from you guys, which I'd really appreciate.

Each background would be quite deep, lots of shading and such, and are to be supplied as JPEG's...the company is not large as such but in my initial meeting with them today, they did not baulk at a mention of £5000 for the first twenty, but they also asked about an image by image basis for a price. I am looking to spend around 8 hours each on each image (hopefully), which at £5000 for 20 works out at around £250 each. Am I undercharging / overcharging in your opinion?

Any suggestions and advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Steve.

Sounds like a good ballpark already, I'd say you're pricing is about right.

  3. Thank you, it puts my mind at rest that someone agrees.

If there are any more opinions, feel free.

    Steve.
