does anyone know a decent alternative to shutterstock's cheeky £30 charge to download one image????
well you cannot download one only you have to go for the £30 for five images 'deal', Which in my case is ONE image.

I happen to need a black silhouette of a musical instrument. Vector illustration...
tiny .. i was ready to buy, card in hand.... , then i noticed you have to get the £30 'package' ... or nothing.

In principle i don't want to get anything from them now, as i disapprove of opportunism. people getting ripped off, etc.

any advice , i thank you greatly

Look for free 'creative commons' or 'cc0' images. Creative common is a type of a licence that allows you to share and curate the images freely. In most cases, you won't have to cite the reference. However, before using a creative common image, make sure to read the terms of the licence. Cheers

Pixabay is the best website to download HD quality images easily. it has a huge images collection in more categories.
