    About the opportunity

The State of the Arts is a features and reviews website covering arts, culture, and politics in Leeds, UK. Since launching in May last year, we have aimed to provide content tailored to Leeds by building up a team of writers who know and understand the city. Now we are expanding, aiming to replicate that model in cities across the country. The Bristol Regional Editor is looking to put together a team of Section Editors to commission content on a weekly basis.

    We are looking for Section Editors to produce content on topics that you would ideally be passionate about and eager to share with others for each subject listed below;

    Theatre/Dance

    Music

    Opinion pieces

    Written Word

    Photography/Fashion

    Museums & Galleries

    TV/Film

About The State of the Arts

The State of the Arts is an arts and culture website publishing features and reviews from and about cities around the UK, produced by dedicated teams of writers who know and understand their cities. We are an entirely voluntary organisation, started to cover local arts and cultural scenes that otherwise would not get the exposure they deserve.

    Practical Considerations

The positions are voluntary (the site is subsidised at present, so everyone involved contributes on a voluntary basis). The commitment involved will depend on how much time you are willing and able to put in, but we are aiming to have at least three pieces uploaded from Bristol per week over the coming months to build up content ready for a launch of the Bristol section later in the year.

The positions are open to anyone. If you think you could perform the role we'd love to hear from you. Experience of editing and writing would obviously help, but a feel for language and a good knowledge of the various arts scenes and issues in Bristol are more important.

Anyone interested in the Section Editor positions should send an e-mail to amannings93@hotmail.co.uk with some or all of the following:

    1. Up to three suggestions for a feature piece on your preferred topic you would like to write about.

    2. A description of your interests and any relevant experience.

    3. Your CV.

We are in the process of redesigning the site, but it can be viewed in its current form at www.thestateofthearts.co.uk.

Applications close once the positions have been filled.

We look forward to hearing from you!
