A friend of mine is struggling to find a new web design job at the moment. He's a mid-weight designer with around 3 years experience, looking in Manchester. Anyone got any suggestions?

There seems to be alot of demand for webdesigners - especially if they have a good portfolio.
So am surprised - but maybe it is a regional thing
Maybe try this web design jobsite There seems to be a fair amount of live jobs.

Better for you use LinkedIn and freelancer method for getting jobs for any where. I spend my whole in social media engage with the people and discuss in details. You can target their local finder web pages and send your CV.

Create accounts on freelance community related sites like freelancer.com, odesk.com, elance.com etc and write proper description regarding your self, your experience and the most important thing is to add your previous work or portfolio to ensure people your ability.

You are welcome to join my freelance site for free. I created and am slowly building a freelance platform to replace elance & freelancer etc. The difference being no commission fees. Id love to talk to you more about it as it might help your friend. Plus i need a php part timer to continue taking steps towards my goals. You can join & freelance totally free at Cherishedideas.com

Doesnt make sense. I have struggled with Linkedin to be honest - good for networking but many jobs are old or you get approached for something irrelevant.
