Those of you that have your own website, I have a few questions. I thinking of setting up my own webpage, should have done it sooner really and I'm just wondering what host site people use? I'm considering using http://website.1and1.co.uk/create-personal-website as it appears easy enough to set one. I'm just wondering if anyone else has used them? Also what would you recommend including on the page? I obviously want it to look professional and attractive to potential new clients.

Hi @tj1979x - not used them personally but have heard a few good things recently about them so definitely worth a go. As long as you can cancel when they year is up and they hike the price then I would be tempted. Also, see if you can use your own domain. 1 and 1's domain system is a bit pants. If you can use your own domain without having to hold it with 1 and 1 then look at Domain Monster or 123-Reg. If you get stuck and need a hand just give me a shout.

    Hi,

I would avoid any ready made website plans. I have used them but very basically in the early days (when I didn't know anything) but if you read forums posts they are not well coded everyone else has the same one.

There are limits to what you can do with them and also you are fixed into what ever price they want to charge.

My advice buy your domain (fasthosts.co.uk - godaddy.com - hostgator.com) name a few and install Wordpress with a little research / help you can buy yourself a better website than they offer with more options to customise and also add free SEO plugins ect...

    Just my two pence.
