Re-locate to another country; like British Spain. It seems to me that you are fortunate enough to have a business and a gift that doesn't anchor you to any one location (forgive me if I am wrong). As a writer I can live (and work) wherever I wish, thanks to modern communications. Adios amigo

Ticks all the boxes: nice weather all the year round. A couple can live comfortably on £125 a week plus rent (about the same as here). Petrol a third cheaper: gas, electricity and phone/bb bills much lower. Easy and cheap access. 2 hours and 15 minutes away. I have just returned. £65 return. Going in June. £55 return.
English widely spoken. Ironically there's so many Brits there, many self-employed as you are, that it's the Spanish who learn English so THEY can serve better the English speaking communities. I know of one school (near Torrevieja) with 400 pupils; all but about five are English/English speakers (i.e Irish). Check out www.southerncomfit.com |

Perhaps with this problem, this could be turned around for everyone's benefit. More companies should encourage their employees to work from home or people should choose a career where this can be facilitated. This should be an opportunity for a positive change in behaviour. I am on an ECDL and job application training course in Bury St Edmunds and quite frankly the roads can be nose to tail as the bus enters Bury. |

I read years ago that 40% of new homes include a home/office; there's so many working from home these days (and nights). Perfect. No commuting so time and money saved. No dressing for work. No distractions. Homes were built for work. Oh, and if you do you get tax savings (in part) on heating and other running costs.
