Help!

Hi,

I got a few questions so any help would be much appreciated

I am currently messing around with designing a website and need some help. I have read that the basic template for design would be 800x600 pixels and is this with 72dpi? I would be looking to use image ready & dreamweaver to produce, is this ok?
Also I want to look at setting up this site for a friends business, would I need professional web hosting or could I use something as simple as bravenet / geocities etc... the site is only going to have a few pages.
Is there anything else I definitely need in the site to meet business standards, dont want to get in any trouble or the company in any trouble.
